Villa du Taur Hotel Review
Every year we try to get away to celebrate our wedding anniversary. This year was our 5th!
As we are buying a house this year we decided we shouldn’t go to crazy on spending money on travel.
Ryanair had a crazy sale on and Toulouse was the cheapest destination with return flights for less than £10 each way!
We found the Villa du Taur on Mr & Mrs Smith website and really liked the look of it and built are short trip around it.
It is located in the city centre of Toulouse but not near any bars or restaurants that will keep you awake at night from the nightlife.
After a super quick flight of just 90 minutes we made the short taxi ride from the Airport to the Villa du Taur hotel in less than 20 minutes.
Penthouse Room
We booked a premium room but got upgraded to the Penthouse room (it does pay to email ahead sometimes to tell them about your anniversary or birthday!)
The penthouse room is a large open plan space on the top floor with a lounge room that connects to the other penthouse room if you want to book out the whole floor.
The bathroom includes a large jacuzzi corner bath and walk in wet room.
The bed was a king size bed looking out on to the streets of Toulouse where you can people watch. It was comfy and apart from being woken up at 4.30am by the neighbours singing Karoke we had a really good nights sleep.
Wifi
The Wi-Fi is free at Villa du Taur and the password is given to you when you check in.
The speed was pretty decent through out the hotel and restaurant.
I was able to access social media and apps on my phone with no problems.
Food & Drink
Breakfast
Located on the ground floor of the hotel, Sixty-two is art-filled restaurant serving creative cuisine by chef Olivier Godechoul.
When I looked at breakfast menu I thought you picked the bits you wanted on the menu. But you actually get everything from the list and you choose from the Chef’s or Paris breakfast.
I went for the chef’s breakfast and my wife had the Paris breakfast.
It comes out in stages (see first photo) so you don’t have to eat everything at once. I forgot to take a photo of the museli, eggs and meats but these were also fresh and presented well.
It was a fantastic breakfast and although quite expensive it was great value.
Travel
We flew from Stansted to Toulouse with Ryanair in a super quick 90 minutes.
When you pay just under a tenner for your flight it is hard to grumble about the flight being late 50 minutes late, which meant the taxi we had booked had gone.
Worst was to come when our return flight the next evening was cancelled with just 2 hours notice!
The hotel is a short 15-20 minute drive from the airport. We got a taxi from the airport to the hotel and returned via Uber.
Both journeys cost less than 20 Euros.
Weather
Leading up to going to Toulouse all the weather apps were saying thunderstorms and cloud…
However, just like our experience in the Maldives, the weather was completely different to what the weather app was telling you!
The vast majority of the time it was sunny with a few bursts of cloud but it was warm all the time as you would expect from the South of France.
Conclusion
The Villa du Taur is a super hotel and great value for money.
The staff are helpful and friendly and hotel is clean and modern.
I would highly recommend staying at the Villa du Taur.
Things to consider
- Pets can stay in all rooms for €15 a night and one of the Premium Rooms on the first floor is wheelchair accessible.
- Does not include breakfast but you can get breakfast at the hotels restaurant sixty-two (Chef or Paris breakfast for 14/21 Euros).
- Only has 17 rooms so book early to avoid dissapointment.

It is such a great hotel to stay in Toulouse ! It’s very peaceful, clean and pretty. I went there with my wife and our young daughter and we absolutely loved it. Besides, Toulouse is one of the prettiest cities I’ve got the opportunity to visit so far! I would definitely recommend this hotel to couples who want a quiet stay in Toulouse!
